Second, marketing initiatives done online are more easily searchable as compared to those advertised in the Yellow Pages. With the right key words, businesses can easily make their websites accessible to their target market. Information searches done using the Internet is much faster than manual scanning of the Yellow Pages.

In addition, any update done on traditional advertising usually requires additional investment.

Eighth, the effectiveness of marketing initiatives could be measured faster when the online medium is used. Well I can see this is a brand new site and I’ll take that into account as I give you my impressions on it. I would hope you’re looking to expand becuase you don’t have any visitors yet 🙂

When starting out in this business most people don’t know what they don’t know and that’s not always a bad thing but I’ll give you a few things to think about at least.

I really like the look and format of the site. Having said that everything else needs to be looked at. Upon visiting I wasn’t really sure what kind of site that this is and only after some digging I figured out it was a poker room of sorts. That’s not good. I’d avoid trying to sell it as a “platform” as this is what you would want to do if you were to license the software which is actually what I thought you were looking to do initially. I like the low key approach but this is almost no key. You need more selling and more hype. On the home page you at a minimum want to answer the question of why should I stay on your site.

Next you want to create a brand and pokerandwin isn’t bad but doesn’t really make as much sense in English as it needs to. “Welcome to Poker and Win” sounds too odd. Once you come up with your brand, the name of your site, it’s not too late to change your domain as you really haven’t done anything with this yet so there’s nothing to lose really.

So you’ve got your brand, Fair Poker we’ll say, and your domain, so now you’ve got to do the on site selling. I’d avoid hokey things like you’re playing against other players. All real poker sites offer this. You want to answer the question of why would someone want to play here as opposed to elsewhere, both free and real money players?

Next here comes the hard part. You’re up against Goliath and you’re not David you’re an ant. If you want your ant to grow this will take three things, money, skill, time. Lots of all 3. Getting players will be challenging and it’s very hard to start up a stand alone room, very hard, sehr sehr schwierig. There’s only been a few sites who have managed to pull this off, and they are the very biggest. Many sites have tried and with a fair bit of money behind them and failed. The problem is getting off the ground. When you license sofware and join a network there are already thousands of players on it when you get your first ones. If you’re on your own there are no or very few players and imagine if I just joined your real money games and there isn’t a game. So that’s going to be your biggest challenge.

I’d forget about the real money end of it and go free play at least to start where it’s still going to be challenging but much less so. You wouldn’t believe the competition for real money stuff. You can build this and sell advertising and when the site is popular enough I’d go with an established poker network and refer the real money players there. Unless you have a million bucks or more to throw at it and have a lot of time to work it.

    Actually, President Obama has accomplished a great deal so far. He will never get credit for anything from the haters. They are the new American Taliban.

    1. Health Care: The Obama White House cleared an important hurdle in the health care reform debate when it appropriated $19 billion in the stimulus package to help implement an electronic medical record system. The money is paltry compared to the hundreds of billions set aside for an overhaul of the health care system in the budget. But officials inside and out of the White House say its significance is hard to overstate.
    “We need to have health IT so we have a better idea both of what works but also… so people can share information,” said Zeke Emanuel, Obama’s health care adviser…in mid-March. “We are on our way in a way that we have never committed ourselves before.”
    2. Communications: A presidential campaign built on innovative messaging and advanced technology has, naturally, become a White House defined by similar characteristics. As such, the reach of the administration’s new media efforts – from hosting online question-and-answer sessions with the president to publishing the first White House blog – has been as expected as appreciated. It’s unfortunate, said one tech savvy Democrat, because the new policies have had tangible impacts. “The White House streams every event with the president on its website, even press events,” he said. “It’s remarkable because, this Sunday they held a swine flu press conference that ordinary people [including many who may have been personally nervous about the topic] were able to watch online… Before you had to wait for a readout or hope that CSPAN would cover it. This is one of those things that people don’t quite understand the significance of.”
    3. Transportation: Since the passage of the economic stimulus package in mid-February, the Obama Department of Transportation has approved 2,500 highway projects. The movement of stimulus money out the door has been as swift as it has been effective: $9.3 billion has been spent in all 50 states. Touting its impact, DOT officials say 260,000 jobs are expected from this investment. And with competition for contracts fierce, the department is set to approve even more projects than previously envisioned. “There will be more money for additional transportation projects,” said the official.
    4. Education: Maligned for its handling of the financial and banking crises, the Obama Treasury Department has nevertheless implemented policies with real qualitative and quantitative impact on debt-burdened families. Chief among those was a $2,500 tax credit to help offset the cost of tuition (among other expenses) for those seeking a college education. Nearly five million families are expected to save $9 billion, according to Treasury officials.
    5. Cars: The automobile industry at the White House and Congress’s behest has undergone seismic structural changes, managerial reorganization, and massive cuts in employment. But for all the tough love, the president has put in place the framework for an industry recovery. Perhaps the most significant of steps was to allocate $2 billion in stimulus cash for advanced batteries systems. One high-ranking Hill aide called battery technology “the next big frontier” in the automotive world, adding that if the U.S. could dominate this market it would reclaim its perch as the world’s premier car manufacturer.
    6. Pakistan: Cognizant of a destabilizing situation in Pakistan, the administration’s diplomatic team, with a major assist from Japan, secured $5 billion in aid commitments “to bolster the country’s economy and help it fight terror and Islamic radicalism” within the country. The money, as Pakistan observers…note, will prove instrumental in bringing the nation away from the brink of failure and increased Taliban control.
    7. Cities: More than any prior president, Obama has put a spotlight on America’s struggling cities, even creating an office of Urban Policy in the White House. It is the Justice Department, however, that lays claim to one of the most consequential of urban affairs achievements. Through the Recovery Act, DOJ secured $2 billion for Byrne Grants, which funds anti-gang and anti-gun task forces. The money, cut during the Bush years, is expected to have massive ramifications on inner-city crime and violence.
    8. Engaging the Muslim World: While certainly discussed, foreign affairs experts insist that Obama’s engagement with the Muslim world has been at once remarkable and under-appreciated. From the first interview with Al Arabiya to his Nowruz address to the Iranian people, to his proclamation that “American is not at war with Islam” during an appearance in Turkey, seasoned observers have been routinely impressed. “Through these [statements and interviews],” said one Democratic foreign policy hand, “He has been able to dramatically change America’s image in that region.”
    9. Forests: Since taking office, the White House has put under federal protection more than two million acres of wilderness, thousands of miles of river and a host of national trails and parks. The conservation effort – the largest in the last 15 years – came with the stroke of a pen when Obama signed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 in late March.
    10. Tone: Leaving a meeting at the White House on Tuesday a progressive member of the House of Representatives commented …just how impressed she was with the president’s manner. “He is so calm,” said the member, “and has a great ability to make you feel like you’re being respected and listened to.”
    It is not, necessarily, a unique observation. But among many Democrats and even casual observers, Obama’s tone is cited as one of the chief catalysts for his outstanding early poll numbers. “Despite record job loss,” said one Democratic aide, “there’s still hope in America.” Indeed, from the beginning of his presidency the percentage of people who believe the nation is headed in the right direction has risen from 19 percent to 42 percent, according to a recent ABC News-Washington Post Poll.

    Stock Market Online February 9, 2009 Monday Evening

    Stocks seesawed today as investors looked to Washington for direction on the stimulus package vote
    that is scheduled for a Senate vote on Tuesday. It is likely we could have a small relief rally if the
    Senate approves the stimulus package. The odds favor that the bill gets passed on the first round but
    if not, we could get a round of selling that would give us a second helping in the long positions of
    some of our stocks on the list below.

    BAC- Bank of America and USB-US Bancorp are the only banking stocks from our bank list
    continuing the move up from last week. USB didn’t move up near as much as the other banks so that
    was a hold and BAC was sold on Friday toward the close on Friday.

    Since we harvested most of the swing and intermediate trades, it mostly became a target rich
    environment for the intraday trades or scalping on our usual list but many more stocks we don’t
    normally watch were tradable. After any harvest like we just had especially in the banking stocks, it is
    best to sit on sidelines watching and waiting for good set-ups for high probability trades. We are
    somewhat back in the “no mans land” but the market seems to have a bias toward the bullish side. If
    we can get a stimulus package passed and a banking bailout reassured, then investors and money
    managers will start ignoring the bad news and look to the future, which is likely to result in an uptrend.

    Having a large long position now before the stimulus package vote is not advisable; it is like buying a
    stock long on the idea the company beats earnings expectations and that is a dangerous strategy.

    Oil prices has drifted slightly lower to $39.69. Losing my patience with USO, US Oil Fund ETF as
    I have mishandled this last helping of this ETF.

    Intermediate Trade Positions: New ideas: POT, Potash, an ag-chemical had a big swing today
    from a high of $95.40 to 87.80. This is the idea we were looking for before considering purchasing
    long. Few more days of watch and wait for either a swing or intermediate. Intraday short scalps on
    this were outstanding today with almost an $8 potential or 9.1%.

    Swing Trades: No new ideas. Still on sidelines.

    Day Traders/Intraday stock ideas: Just another outstanding day on intraday trading. Keep
    scanning amongst these and other past favorites for good drop and pop signals. We will also see
    reversals Continue to watch ICE, BLK, CME, POT, MON, MOS, AMZN, AAPL, FSLR, BIDU, WFC,
    JPM and any high volume, high volatility stocks.

    NOTES: We are getting higher frequency of bullish days as anticipated and the obvious weeks. Be
    patient, use small positions and use wise money management and trailing stops in
    intermediate trades.

    I am still expecting some sort of substantial rally in the stock market sometime this year mostly driven by the massive
    stimulus that has already been poured into the system plus the planned stimulus package being proposed now. Longer
    term though, in a couple years down the road, no doubt the taxpayer is going to have to pay for such the high debt
    amounts that the US government (and other countries) have taken on. So tax rates probably will rise in coming years, interest rates will very likely have to rise as inflation surfaces and likely the bear market resumes sometime down the
    road. But we don’t have to be stuck in a miserable cycle like most investors. With the techniques and approach to the
    market, we will still thrive.

    When I list several stocks from the same sector, like the housing industry for example, don’t short all of them unless you
    are well diversified and it represents a small percentage of your total stock account (in that same account).
    REPEAT: Keep an eye out for biotechs; they are building momentum and often do well in January.

    However, Phoenix az has so many jobs here, for example when I put my resume online I get calls from wells fargo, bank of america, american express, and the list goes on and on and on so you have the freedom to choose for what company you want to work, and it’s not like in other cities where you have to really try hard and get a cheesy job….. BUT WE ARE TIRED OF THE EXTREME HEAT, 110 DEGREES FOR LIKE 5 MONTHS OUT THE YEAR and then it goes down to like 100 for another 3 months… and winter here is like 80 degrees wich is only like 2 months……

    San Diego (and surrounding communities) is EXPENSIVE. Pay is lower than other high-cost areas (such as the San Francisco bay area or Los Angeles). The job market is a little tight. Housing prices have eased, but are still expensive.

    Riverside and San Bernardino counties to the north are booming. It’s warmer there, but not as hot as Phoenix.
