Real Estate Agent Charges for Buyer?

I found a listing online for a new home which is advertised by the builder to attract buyers. Even though they are still building. If a person purchases a home should they pay anything to the Real Estate Agent? I’m in California.
I understand they should only charge sellers. Just wanted some expert verification from anyone with experience.

As a buyer, you are not obliged to pay anything to a real estate sales agreement unless you have entered into an agreement to do so, and that is not common. A buyer will sometimes contract with an agent for representation if particular services are wanted, and in that case the buyer’s agent and seller’s agent normally split the pot with respect to the brokerage commissions. In the usual case of different brokers representing buyer and seller, each broker takes a bite out of the seller’s proceeds.
